Students at Guiseley School are celebrating this morning after receiving an excellent set of GCSE exam results. Summer 2017 sees many of our students achieving five or more standard pass grades (A*-C or 9-4). In addition, there were noteworthy pass rates in the new English and Maths GCSEs, and every student who studied at the school in Year 11 has left school with a qualification.
Headteacher Paul Morrissey said:
“This is a really strong set of results. The high pass rates in the new English and Mathematics exams are testament to the hard work of our young people. Our teachers, parents/carers and governors are very proud of them and what they have achieved. We wish all of our students every success for the future.”
Some particular successes included: Jenny Morcom, who achieved 13 grades at 9-7/A*-A. Kai Harrington and Charlotte Smith, both achieved 11 grades at 9-7/A*-A. Maria Sage gained 10 grades at 9-7/A*-A. A further six students, Felix Bulman, Freya Elliott, Kate Erskine, Ella Mawson, Natalie Morris and Tia Parmar all achieved 9 grades at 9-7/A*-A.
Amongst the changing landscape of examination grades, Kai Harrington secured a fantastic achievement of gaining three grade 9 GCSEs across English and Mathematics.
