Last week was another very busy week here at Guiseley School. Another drop down day took place hosting a wide variety of activities together with the final two Year 7 camps which had better weather than the week before. Year 12 have had an excellent week on their work experience placements. The feedback from students has been extremely positive with many commenting on how have enjoyed the week and that it has informed them about their future careers. The placements have been very diverse including the environment agency, production and testing of components for satellites, accounting, banking, teaching and hospital work. Employers have been able to give students valuable projects to complete and have commented on their capability and maturity stating how much they have valued the contributions made by the students.
This week is also full of events taking place at school. These include the school Open Morning on Tuesday for prospective parents and the New Intake evening on Wednesday for September’s Year 7. Also on Tuesday evening is one of the major events of the school year with the Art / Technology Exhibition taking place highlighting the fantastic work produced by student for their GCSE and A-Level examinations. Everyone is very welcome to this prestigious exhibition. Finally, just to advertise the school production of Kes which will take place on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of the last week of term.
We had our final home games of the season tonight against Horsforth and St Mary's.
Year 7 drew with Horsforth and lost to St Mary's (although quite a few of the usual team were on school camp) Year 8 beat St Mary's. Well done to everyone involved.
