ART AND DESIGN

Overview of the Subject

Art & Design is taught across all key stages. Students have regular opportunities to explore a wide range of media, processes and techniques whilst investigating the work of other artists, designers and craftspeople. Students enjoy the freedom to express and record their ideas, feelings and insights when working individually or collaboratively. Student work is regularly displayed in all areas of the school and we celebrate our examination success with an annual Art & Technology exhibition in June. We are committed to maintaining our Artsmark Gold status of which we are very proud. We work closely with Drama and Music on cross curricular themes and all our Year 9 pupils work towards Arts Award Bronze. The department benefits from having SCITT trainees in the department, bringing a fresh approach to the teaching of Art & Design.
