Headteacher’s Welcome

I am immensely proud to be Headteacher of Guiseley School and believe that it is a great place for young people to be.

As a School community we aspire to provide a world class education for the young people of our local community. Over the last four years we have made great strides towards this aim. Our new buildings are now complete and the final demolition and landscaping phase of the project has begun. The school returned to an OFSTED rating of ‘Good’ in all areas in the inspection of September 2019 and was recognised for both the high standards of behaviour and quality of the curriculum.

Guiseley School is a fully comprehensive school that is committed to ensuring all students can reach their potential and we will continue to strive to ensure this is the case. It is our responsibility to provide an education that equips young people not only to succeed academically but also gives them the confidence, skills and social awareness to go on to be involved and active 21st century citizens in their local community. We do this by creating enjoyment of learning and excellent opportunities to get involved in a wide and varied curriculum. We are delighted to be classified as an ‘Artsmark Platinum’ school that provides excellent opportunities in Drama, Art, and Music. We also ensure opportunities are varied in sports teams, academic societies and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

At Guiseley School, our attainment is consistently above national averages. Yet it is the provision of progression routes that is most important to us. The education, care, and guidance we provide ensure that our students secure places at university, college placements, apprenticeships or work with training. It is rare for a student to leave our school without knowing what their next steps will be.

Our core values are clear. We ensure our school is one where care is at the centre of what we do, providing an environment where students can feel safe and focus on learning. We have the highest aspirations for ourselves and others. This means aspiring to the highest standards of behaviour as well as pursuing academic excellence and learning in and beyond the classroom. It is this environment that allows us to grow both in the classroom, where students focus on the acquisition of powerful knowledge, and in our personal development. These core values are crucial in ensuring our primary aim of success in all academic and personal aspects of a young person’s development at Guiseley School.

No school can successfully provide for young people without the support of parents, carers, and governors. At Guiseley, all of these groups are committed to helping the school achieve the best possible education for our young people. Explore our website to find out more.
