Homework is work that is set to be completed outside of the timetabled curriculum. It contains an element of independent study, in that it is not usually directly supervised by a teacher. It is important in raising student achievement.
At Guiseley School all students in Years 7-11 follow a homework schedule. This shows the day each subject sets homework.
Staff should give students one week to complete the work.
Most subjects will use online resources such as Carousel and Sparx Maths when setting homework. Staff will ask students to record the homework in their planners.
In Years 10 and 11, the homework schedule refers to options subjects. These can be identified from a student timetable in the following way.
