Guiseley School Attends National Schools Badminton Championships

We are delighted to share the results from the KS3 North West Round of the National Schools Badminton Championships held at Guiseley School on Wednesday, 21st January. Our team represented the school with pride against Ermysted's Grammar School and The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL).

The tournament format consisted of three matches, each featuring two singles and three doubles games. All players competed twice per match in games played to 15 points.

Match Highlights

  • Ermysted's vs. GSAL: The tournament opened with Ermysted's Grammar School securing a 4-1 victory.
  • Guiseley vs. Ermysted's: Our boys delivered a fantastic performance against a very strong Ermysted's side. With excellent communication and strategic play in the doubles matches – using strong smashes and forcing the opposition to the net – Guiseley kept the score incredibly tight, narrowly finishing 2–3.
  • Guiseley vs. GSAL: Despite the previous close loss, the team remained in high spirits. The final matches against GSAL featured long, nail-biting rallies, but GSAL's tactics ultimately secured them the runner-up spot.

Final Standings

Ermysted's Grammar School took first place and will progress to the Regional Finals in York this March. Guiseley School finished 3rd in West Yorkshire.

All four boys played excellently throughout the afternoon, communicating well and supporting one another after every rally. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the way they represented Guiseley School. Well done to the team.
