Forty of our talented KS4 and KS5 Drama and Music students recently returned from an action-packed two-day trip in London, trading the classroom for the bright lights of the West End.
The whirlwind trip kicked off last Friday with a descent into the dark side of history at the London Dungeons. After surviving the scares, the group enjoyed a burger tea at Byron Burger before heading to the Gielgud Theatre for a spectacular performance of the hit musical Oliver!. The students spent the night at a Central London Premier Inn, perfectly situated for an early start on Saturday.
From the Studio to the Stage
Saturday morning saw the energy levels skyrocket as the group headed to the world-famous Pineapple Dance Studios. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students took part in a high-intensity performance workshop, honing their movement and stagecraft skills in the same rooms used by West End stars.
Following some free time to soak up the atmosphere and street performances in Covent Garden, the trip concluded with a shift in tone. The students attended a matinee performance of Arthur Miller’s powerhouse tragedy, All My Sons, providing a sophisticated contrast to the previous night’s musical theater.
With two shows, a professional workshop, and the sights of London under their belts, the students returned home exhausted but inspired.
