This year, Remembrance Day at Guiseley School held special significance as we officially dedicated the Memorial Plaque from the former Yeadon and Guiseley Secondary School.
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for the ceremony, especially Reverend Pickett for leading the service. A special thank you to Max A and Megan H for their thoughtful speeches and dedicated research into the lives of the fallen soldiers commemorated on the plaque.
It was an honour to have our Cadets in uniform take part in the ceremony and lay a poppy wreath beneath the plaque. Mr Gracey performed 'The Last Post' as the crowd observed a minute’s silence.
At 11am, we continued our tradition with Mr Stote and student Thomas E playing 'The Last Post' for the wider school community. As the sound of trumpets echoed across the grounds, we paused to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy today.
