Guiseley School Takes Part in Sunny Bank Mills Exhibition

We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to showcase student and staff work at Sunny Bank Mills in an Art, Craft and Design Exhibition over the 24th - 25th May.

We are proud to say that we are the only secondary school that has ever taken a place at this exhibition. The reception of the student and staff work displayed was terrific, with over 800 people coming through over the course of the weekend exhibition. Guiseley School had a large range of mediums on display, with art, sculpture and photography being available to view. This exhibition displayed work from students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12.

Mr Goodsell, our Faculty Leader of Technology stopped to see the exhibition: "It was great to see the fantastic work of Guiseley School students evidenced in such a positive way within the community. The range of work from KS3 was extensive and impressive but the KS4 work was particularly stunning – there is some real talent in the school! Well done to all involved!"
In the guestbook for Sunny Bank Mills, Katie White (MP) wrote: "An incredible display of creativity from young to more mature. Well done all schools [and] volunteers who have dedicated their time and love to make this happen."

Sunny Bank Mills showcases, supports and sells the work of artists and makers from Yorkshire and beyond; investing in and developing the next generation of artists, makers and curators through a rolling programme of exhibitions, events, workshops and artists’ studios. Sunny Bank Mills Gallery is housed in the light and airy former cloth warehouse. Their exhibitions change every two months and include traditional art forms such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and textiles alongside more contemporary media such as film.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to come along to the exhibition, and we hope to see you at the next one!
