It has been a whirlwind of success for Guiseley School’s athletes at the Leeds Schools Indoor Athletics City Finals held at Pudsey Grammar. Following weeks of preparation and intense regional qualifiers, both our Year 7 boys and Year 8 girls teams have cemented their status as some of the best in the city.
The Year 7 boys arrived at the finals with momentum after winning their North West Leeds qualifier before Christmas. In a field of six regional champions, the boys fought for every inch, eventually finishing as runners-up.
They ended just 7 points behind the winners. Their performance was a masterclass in determination and team spirit, representing Guiseley School with immense pride on the city stage.
Not to be outdone, the Year 8 girls took the friendly challenge to beat the boys' result quite literally. The team delivered a brilliant performance across the board to be crowned Leeds Schools Indoor Athletics Champions.
The girls excelled in field events like the Speed Bounce and Vertical Jump, while showing clinical pace in the track races and relays. Their consistency saw them finish well ahead of the competition.
As a result of their incredible efforts, both of our teams have officially qualified for the West Yorkshire Sportshall Athletics Finals. They will now head to Huddersfield to represent Leeds against the best teams in the county.
