Guiseley School is celebrating the remarkable sporting success of student Penny, who helped the Bingley Harriers U13 team secure a Gold medal at the Northern Cross Country Championships this past weekend.
Competing at Pontefract Racecourse, Penny overcame a recent illness and an ankle injury to deliver a standout performance. Showing incredible resilience, she strapped up her injury to compete alongside her teammates, ultimately helping the Harriers clinch the top spot on the podium as one of the team's four key scoring athletes.
Penny is now preparing to swap her club colors for her school kit as she represents Guiseley School this Saturday at the North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships. After proving her grit at the regional level, she carries both a gold medal and immense momentum into the upcoming race, where she aims to bring that same championship-winning spirit to the school team.
