Outstanding Seasonal Success for Year 7 Swimmer Ted W

Guiseley School is delighted to celebrate the exceptional sporting achievements of Year 7 student, Ted W, who has enjoyed a remarkably successful season in competitive swimming.

Ted’s competitive season began with a dominant performance at the Yorkshire Championships in February, held across three weekends at the John Charles Centre for Sport and Ponds Forge. Having qualified for 17 races, Ted competed in 16 events and successfully medalled in every single one, securing an incredible 11 Gold medals.

In May, Ted advanced to the North Eastern Regionals. To manage the physical demands of the competition, he selectively entered 10 races. Ted reached the finals in all 10 events, earning a further 6 medals: 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze.

Most recently, Ted competed with his team from the City of Leeds Swimming Club, securing 1st place in the heats of the White Rose League. The team has now qualified for the national finals in Corby, taking place this November.

As a testament to his skill, Ted’s times place him comfortably within the top 5 twelve-year-olds in the British rankings. Despite these demands, Ted remains fully engaged in wider school life, managing the pressures of high-level sport while prioritising his well-being and maintaining his enthusiasm for his studies and extracurricular activities.

We congratulate Ted on his phenomenal hard work and success during his first year at Guiseley School. He has proven himself to be an excellent ambassador for our school community, and we look forward to supporting his continued progress in the pool.
