Year 10 History Students Step Back in Time on Rewarding York Trip

On Tuesday 19th May, a group of our hardworking Year 10 students traded the classroom for the historic streets of York as a reward for their exceptional dedication to their History studies. The trip was organised as a special treat for students who have gone above and beyond.

The action-packed day began at the National Railway Museum, where students marvelled at centuries of engineering history, getting up close to iconic locomotives and learning about the massive impact of the railways on British society.

After building up an appetite, the group took a scenic walk through the heart of the city toward their next destination. Along the way, we made a quick pitstop for snacks, with students fuelling up on pastries and drinks.

Next on the itinerary was the York Castle Museum. The students had a brilliant time immersing themselves in the famous Kirkgate Victorian street, exploring the historic prison cells, and bringing their classroom social history lessons to life. It was a fantastic blend of high-energy fun and deep learning.

Before heading back to West Yorkshire, students enjoyed an hour of free time on the world-famous Shambles. It was the perfect opportunity to relax, shop for souvenirs, and grab some lunch - the Shambles Food Market was a massive hit.

Our Year 10s represented Guiseley School impeccably throughout the day, showing great curiosity and exemplary behaviour. We hope the Year 8 and 9s attending this trip later this week enjoy it as much as our Year 10s did!
